On the Olympian Gods

WIP

Olympian =/= twelve

(Note that ‘Olympian’ comes to much the same as ‘heavenly’, since the ancients often understood Olympus as heaven (ouranos). In the Scholia on Iliad 1.402, “broad Olympus” = heaven is distinguished from “great Olympus” = Mt Olympus. In the Scholia on Iliad 8.46, it is pointed out that Homer distinguished Olympus from heaven, and this is repeated elsewhere, evidently because readers otherwise assumed they were the same thing.)
